Xavier Flory Tenor

About

Xavier Flory is a New York-based tenor praised for his “clean, pure tenor with ringing top notes.” In the 2025-2026 season, he has been a resident artist with Teatro Nuovo, and has appeared as Don José in Carmen, Tamino in The Magic Flute, the tenor soloist in Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, and the lead in a concert performance of Geoffrey Kidde’s new opera The Machine Stops.

Xavier started his singing career as a soprano soloist with the Vienna Boys Choir, where he performed at the Wiener Staatsoper, with the Vienna Philharmonic, and under the batons of Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, and Riccardo Muti. He has a double PhD in political theory from Columbia University and Sciences Po Paris, has been a fellow with the Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy, and has taught at Columbia, Penn, and the Bard Prison Initiative.

“He’s also a rather fine tenor with matinee idol looks and he can act.  What more could one ask?”

“His rendition of the Prince’s Serenade was beautifully phrased with soaring top notes adding to the lushness of the melody, and his stature added to his princely presence onstage.”
